Non-profit organizations in Lake County, Michigan. Four types of grants are funded: human services, education, environment, and arts and culture.
Support Lake County by Supporting the Foundation
Donors may give unrestricted gifts to the General Fund or may create or give to an endowment that funds specific non-profits or gives scholarships.
General Fund
Gifts at all levels are welcome to the general fund, from which the LCCF annual grant funds are generated. The LCCF awards grants in four areas: 1) Human Services, Education, Environment, and Arts & Culture. In 2007, the LCCF awarded a total of $33,395 to 19 grantee non-profits. The General Fund is an important fund for Lake County non-profits because Lake County does not have United Way.

Endowments
Lake County Community Foundation endowment funds are invested “for good, for ever.” The earnings from endowment funds are granted annually in accordance with the foundation’s spending policy. The grants are made to non-profits in Lake County whose work aligns with the mission of the Foundation and the wishes of the donor(s). A $10,000 minimum gift is required to establish a LCCF endowment fund. Quarterly financial reports are sent to the contacts of named funds summarizing the gift, investment, grant and expense activity for the period.

Bequests By Will
Making a bequest to your community foundation is an easy way to transfer assets to charity. You can decide to do it at any age by adding to an existing will or drafting a new one. In doing so, you leave a legacy to your community, while enjoying the assets you need to maintain your current lifestyle. Plus, you are able to distribute some or all of your assets tax free.
